Veterans Day
Veterans Day originated as
“Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War
I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11
became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Veterans Day is not to be confused
with Memorial Day–a common misunderstanding, according to the U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs. …" The original concept for the celebration was for a
day observed with parades and public meetings and a brief suspension of
business beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Reflection:
Veterans Day is a very
special day not because we don’t have school but because we thank the U.S
soldiers who fought for us. My thought about Veterans Day is that it is great to
thank and greet the soldiers who fought for our country.
