St Patrick’s Day is on the 17^th because that was the day when St. Patrick has passed away.  

4. Why a certain color on St. Patrick’s Day?

There isn't really one reason why this is the official color of St. Patrick's Day, but the color green has a lot of connections to Ireland and springtime.
